My Cousin Susie

I'm worried my lovely cousins and aunt will think that I've withheld pictures for so long because I have a secret vendetta or something. But that's not it.

I love my cousin Susie and her sisters and my aunt Mary.

My lovely cousin Susie, who may even be a mother now for all I know (I'm so far behind the world these days), had her baby shower on January 10th (yes, 46 days ago) and I'm just now posting the photos because I'm a little embarrassed. More on that in a sec. Doesn't she look so happy?

Yeah, so about that embarrassment - January 10th was six days after I returned from Florida, where I took lots of pictures of kids. And at some point along the way, some stuff/crud/whatever got on my lens (actually, it was on my filter, but whatever). And a bunch of my photos got a little weird as a result. Nuts! But I was able to salvage some of the results with a great deal of effort.

Nothing brings the ladies in my family together like a baby or bridal shower. And Susie's was no exception. Cousins...

aunts, moms, family friends...

we all had a great time.

So Susie (Susan to those of you haven't known her since before she was 2), when are you going to have the baby already so I can come up north with my camera??? :)

Worst. Blogger. Ever.

Where have I been? I bet you thought I gave up on blogging - it's been so long!

Work was all-consuming for a while. I felt like I was an investment banking analyst again (ick!!). That is not a part of my career I was ever eager to return to. Fortunately, it wasn't for too long, even if it was a bit more stressful. I did have some free time, but not enough for blogging.

Here's what I've been up to when I wasn't working:

I went to a Bulls game last week. That was really cool. We got fantastic seats from a friend of mine, and I treated my brother Chris, who is a huge fan.

The only drawback was the really obnoxious woman sitting in front of us who stood up constantly, desperate for attention from the rest of the crowd, the mascot Benny the Bull, the refs, the security guards, the players, the basketball, the floorboards - did I mention she was desperate?? Fortunately for you, I have cropped her out of the pictures I took.

It was a great game. The Bulls were down as the end of the fourth quarter approached but brought it within three points with just over ten seconds to go. Ben Gordon was fouled on a three-point attempt and made all three free throws, tying the game with 6.5 seconds. How exciting!!

When the Heat in-bounded the ball, the Bulls stole it and called a time-out. Hooray! Only then the Heat managed to steal the ball on our in-bound pass, run it down the court, slam dunk, game over. :( What a downer! Still a great game.

And I didn't get to tell you about Valentine's Day either! The beautiful roses my wonderful husband sent to me went totally unrecognized by the internet! But they certainly were not unrecognized by me. I took a lot of pictures of them. Aren't they gorgeous?

And I didn't even tell you about the choco-tastic sorbet I made with these:

That I served with these.

And they looked like this together. Tasty...

So tasty that I had to take the rest of the cookies to work. So that I wouldn't eat any more.

Dangerously tasty.

And I still haven't told you about my cousin Susie's baby shower. But that deserves its own post. So that will be next.
